Black Sheep Brewery Races 2008

The races

During April to September, eight separate races are organised by towns and villages of North Yorkshire. They are called the "Black Sheep Brewery Races". In 2008, the following dates have been arranged for these races:

Sun April 27th Fountains 10K
Sun May 11th Ripon 10M
Sun May 25th Melmerby 10K
Sat Jun 7th Kirkby Malzeard 10K
Sun Jun 29th Rainton 10K
Sat Jul 5th Burn Valley Run (half marathon)
Sun Jul 20th Burton Leonard 10K
Sun Sep 14th Wetherby 10K

You will be able to enter one or more of these races by getting an entry form (from the organisers of the race) and sending it off in the usual way. In previous years, some of the races insisted that you enter by post: entry on the day is not allowed.

Nearer to the time of the races, the Ripon Runners web site will be a good place to get entry forms for these races. And, after each race, that web site has a link to a web page containing the results.

A separate competition

If you are thinking of entering at least five of these races, you may also want to enter a separate competition called the "Black Sheep Race Series" (BSRS). Official information about the BSRS is at www.blacksheepraceseries.co.uk.

Entry into the BSRS is 10 pounds. The closing date for entry into the BSRS is "April 21st or when we have reached 250 entries". Here is a link to the entry form for the BSRS.

"To be eligible for a Race Series award, runners must complete 4 of the 6 10k races plus either the 10 mile or 1/2 marathon."

"All runners who complete all 8 races will be awarded a quality BIG 8 t-shirt in Mens and Women sizes."

Other information including details of the prizes is given at: www.blacksheepraceseries.co.uk.

Just to repeat what is said above: if you choose to enter the BSRS (paying the 10 pounds by its closing date), you will also, separately, have to enter each race and pay the fee for each race. The closing date for entry into each race will be whatever is given on the race's entry form. In previous years, some of the races insisted that you enter by post: entry on the day is not allowed.
