.NET Framework is not the only way of providing/accessing a Web Service.
There are many other products that can be used.
The Apache Software Foundation provide a product called Axis.
We will look at how this can be used later.
Included with Axis is a program called tcpmon.
tcpmon can be used to monitor HTTP traffic.
So, instead of ConsoleConvert contacting the Web Service, arrange for it to go through the tcpmon program.
So the client contacts tcpmon and tcpmon contacts the Web Service.

To run tcpmon, the code of the proxy class needs to be changed.

In Service1's constructor, change:

0136:             this.Url = 
0137:             "http://www.a.com/wsud/cs/ServerConvert/Service1.asmx";

to:

0229:             this.Url = 
0230:             "http://localhost:8080/wsud/cs/ServerConvert/Service1.asmx";

where 8080 is an arbitrarily chosen port.

Then compile the ConsoleConvert program again.
When you want to run ConsoleClient, first ensure that tcpmon is running.
tcpmon requires a classpath to be set up before it can be started.

This can be done using commands like:

0238: set CLASSPATH=%AXIS_HOME%\lib\log4j-1.2.4.jar;%CLASSPATH%
0239: set CLASSPATH=%AXIS_HOME%\lib\wsdl4j.jar;%CLASSPATH%

As you can see, it is a long classpath.

tcpmon can then be started using the command:

0240: java org.apache.axis.utils.tcpmon 8080 www.a.com 80

After the tcpmon window appears, run ConsoleConvert in the usual way. The tcpmon window shows the HTTP request that goes to www.a.com ...
... and the HTTP response that comes back.
